Questions and Answers

Q. When do the programs run?
A. Our programs run alongside the school terms with the exception of the first week of the year when we start one week after school to allow those with school age children to get them settled in first.

Q. How many children in each session?
A. Each session has a maximum of 20 children.

Q. What are the costs involved?
A. Please contact our office for current term fees as they can change annually.

Q. What if my child has an allergy?
A. Firstly please advise staff immediately upon registration.  We take appropriate action.  Special care will be given for allergies. Please note our Centre is a smoke and nut free zone.

Q. What if my child has special needs?
A. Please advise staff as an action plan is required from the parent and a special needs form must be filled in.  These needs will be assessed then care will be appropriately given eg. Special Needs Assistant, extra help for funding, special equipment.  We do not receive any funding so we would have to apply to the appropriate place eg. RUSCN this would be done with consultation with parents and other agencies.

Q. If my child can appear distressed what can I do?
A. We suggest these strategies - Start an activity with your child and when they appear calm and distracted have a staff member take your place. Don’t sneak out before saying goodbye; reassure your child with “Goodbye. I’ll be back soon”. Be firm and don’t wilt under the pressure of your child’s pleas.  Repeat your goodbye and your reassurance that you will return.  Don’t linger and leave when you say you are going. When you return to pick up your child, greet them with “See, I told you I was coming back.  Tell me about some of the things you did today.”
